Bank of Greece: Primary budget surplus of 1.66 billion euros

The government budget posted a primary surplus of 1.66 billion euros in January, up from 2.4 billion euros a year earlier, according to data released today by the Bank of Greece.

At the same time, the cash result of the central administration was a deficit of 239 million euros in January, compared to a surplus of 1.077 billion euros in the corresponding month of 2023.

In the first month of the year, regular budget revenues amounted to 5.091 billion euros, which was 4.708 billion euros last year. As for regular budget expenditures, they amounted to 4.799 billion euros from 5.152 billion euros in January 2023.
